The Original concept of showing Brownian Motion with a smoke cell has been developed further by STE. Using hard wearing, low maintenance materials the STE Whitley Bay Smoke cell will give many years of trouble free service.

A small, clear plastic cylinder is filled with smoke, (the easiest method is to light a waxed drinking straw, the dense smoke from the wax falls to the bottom of the straw and this fills the cylinder).

A microscope slide cover slip is used as a lid for the cylinder and the particles of smoke simulating Brownian Motion are view under a Microscope.

The STE Ticker Tape Timer is modern version of a tried and tested method of measuring Velocity and Acceleration. A vibrating sticker prints dots on the tape using carbon discs. The unit is housed in hard warring, inert, scratch proof and shock absorbing plastic case and has a single aluminium plate for clamping to the bench or fixing to a dynamics track.

The STE Ticker Tape Timer has a unique method of adjusting the position of the carbon disk which allows standard ticker tape or the wider STE ticker tape to be used.

This timer comes in two versions, AC and DC. The AC version is 12 volt and uses mains frequency as its method of timing. The DC version has two timing setting to allow more complex work to be undertaken.

A comprehensive kit to enhance the Van de Graaff Generator. The kit can be used as a demonstration aid for teachers or as a motivational experiance by groups of students.

Contents:

1 Head of Hair.
This is artificial hair which can be plugged into the Van de Graaff's Dome via a 4mm plug which secures the hair. The Van de Graaff is activated and the hair rises.

2 Charge Attractor.
A steel probe which incorporates a neon indicator to show the presence of a Field.

3 Ions in Motion Simulator.
A clear perspex vessel contains conducting spheres. The base of the vessel has a 4mm plug which fits on top of the Van De Graaff Generator and when activated demonstrates Ions in Motion.

4 Faraday's Pail.
A spun aluminium cylinder, 100 x60mm diameter with 4mm plug for attachment to Van De Graaff's dome. This demonstrates that electrostatic charge always migrates to the outside of a hollow container.

5 Bouncing Ball.
A conducting sphere connected to an insulating rod via nylon thread. The rod fits into the Van De Graaff's dome via a 4mm plug and demonstrates that the charge forces the sphere away from the Dome.
